Kevin Hays will offer a master class on November 16 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which from October to December 2022 will schedule 19 master classes and 26 concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist, composer, and singer-songwriter Kevin Hays is internationally recognized as one of the most original and compelling musicians of his generation. His numerous recordings have received critical acclaim from The New York Times, Downbeat Magazine and Jazz Times, as well as the Coup de Coeur award from the Académie Charles Cros (France). Kevin has also appeared on numerous albums as a guest artist, recording with Chris Potter, Bill Stewart, Joshua Redman, Jeff Ballard, Nicholas Payton and Al Foster, among many others. Notable collaborations include a piano duo project with Brad Mehldau, world tours with James Taylor, Sonny Rollins, John Scofield, Joe Henderson, and Roy Haynes.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 11 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Kevin Hays are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
