Joe Lovano will offer a master class on November 11 at the Higher Conservatory of Music Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which within October and December 2024 will schedule master classes, meetings and concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place mainly in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
Joe Lovano is an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator whose robust sound and innovative approach have made him a stalwart of modern jazz. Lovano’s expansive career features collaborations with jazz legends like Woody Herman, John Scofield, and Bill Frisell, and a prolific recording catalog with Blue Note Records. His imaginative and adventurous explorations, as evidenced in albums like “From the Soul” and “Bird Songs,” demonstrate his mastery of both the tradition and the avant-garde. Lovano is also a respected educator, sharing his knowledge at the Berklee College of Music.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 13 years with the Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Joe Lovano are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
