James Francies will offer a master class on November 14 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which from October to December 2022 will schedule 19 master classes and 26 concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
James Frances is a pianist who has built his professional career collaborating with such important figures as Jeff “Tain” Watts, Chris Dave, Chris Potter, Eric Harland or Pat Metheny. Francies’ own group, Kinetic, has given acclaimed performances at events such as the Newport Jazz Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, NYC Winterfest and BRIC JazzFest. In his latest works for Blue Note, Frances embodies the spirit of this prosperous record label, embodying a dynamic and ultra-modern sound, infused with pop, hip-hop and R & B.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 11 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of James Francies are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
