Paquito D’Rivera and Pepe Rivero will offer a master class on November 27 at the Higher Conservatory of Music Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which within October and December 2024 will schedule master classes, meetings and concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place mainly in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
The Cuban clarinetist and saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera (who was honored at Liceu Jazz in 2022), together with the pianist Pepe Rivero (who already visited us in the 2016 and 2018 editions), form a duo known for their ability to fuse jazz with Latin roots. The chemistry between the two musicians is evident in every performance, offering sophisticated arrangements and exceptional musical communication. Their music testifies to the richness and versatility of Latin jazz.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 13 years with the Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Paquito D’Rivera and Pepe Rivero are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
