Donny McCaslin will offer a master class on November 6 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which within October and November 2023 will schedule master classes, meetings and concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place mainly in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
Donny McCaslin has established himself as one of the most talented and versatile jazz musicians of his generation. Beginning his career in the 1990s, McCaslin became known for his technical skill and his innovative approach to saxophone playing. He has collaborated with numerous renowned artists, including Gary Burton, Maria Schneider, and Dave Douglas, and has recorded several albums as a leader. McCaslin and his quartet have been recognized worldwide for his collaboration with David Bowie on his album Blackstar. The Donny McCaslin Quartet is composed by Donny McCaslin on saxophone, Jason Lindner on piano and keyboards, Tim Lefebvre on bass and Mark Guiliana on drums. Together, they create exciting, cutting-edge music that combines elements of jazz, rock, and electronic music.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 12 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
