A pictorial mixture of saxophone and piano

 

We met Marc Copland during the 2016 edition of Liceu Jazz along his friend John Abercrombie. This year, “the piano whisperer” returns to the Liceu Conservatory with another partner on stage, saxophonist Dave Liebman. They also knew each other during the 70’s, when Copland still played the saxophone as well. After a while, they formed a duo that has been renowned for the variety and purity of their sound, and described by critics as “paint with sound: dripping wet notes like paint on the canvas of the sky, creating Japanese like watercolours”.
