Christian Sands will offer a master class on October 16 at the Higher Conservatory of Music Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which within October and December 2024 will schedule master classes, meetings and concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place mainly in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
Christian Sands is an American jazz pianist known for his vibrant creativity and effortless mastery of the piano. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Sands has worked with a who’s who of jazz greats, including Christian McBride, Gregory Porter, and Wynton Marsalis. Noted for his versatility, Sands skillfully traverses a wide range of styles from straight-ahead jazz to Afro-Cuban and hip-hop influences. His albums, including the Grammy-nominated “Reach” and “Facing Dragons,” have firmly established him as a major force in the contemporary jazz scene.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 13 years with the Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Christian Sands are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
