Edmar Castañeda i Grégoire Maret will offer a master class on October 28 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which from October to December 2022 will schedule 19 master classes and 26 concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
The harp by Edmar Castañeda and the harmonica by Grégoire Maret, both rare instruments in jazz projects, offer unique music, full of unexpected colors and seeking a new way of expression, stretching definitions and limits. Having rewritten the rulebook for their respective instruments, creating inspiring and unusual jazz in “Harp vs. Harp”, his strong musical affinity and clear background and musical connections are even more evident live on stage a melting pot of musical cultures developing note by note. Without a doubt, Castañeda and Maret have redefined the capabilities of both the harmonica and the harp.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 11 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Edmar Castañeda i Grégoire Maret are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
