
Anja Lechner and François Couturier will offer a master class on 19th of November 2025 at the Liceu Conservatory, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which within October and December 2025 will schedule master classes, meetings and concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place mainly in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
Anja Lechner is a cellist renowned for combining classical music with improvisation, and has collaborated on several projects with ECM Records, often alongside French pianist François Couturier. Couturier, known for his creativity both in and out of jazz, explores new sonic territories in duet with Lechner. Together, they are part of the Tarkovsky Quartet and have recorded albums such as “Lontano” (ECM), showcasing their affinity for experimentation beyond genres.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 14 years with the Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Anja Lechner and François Couturier are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
