Xavi Maldonado is the recipient of the Extraordinary Prize in Jazz and Modern Music Performance for the 2025–2026 academic year. The saxophonist is now returning to the Conservatory to give a concert as part of the Barcelona Jazz Festival.
“From his entrance exam at the Liceu Conservatory, through his time with the Liceu Big Band, right up to his Extraordinary Prize concert, you’d have to think long and hard to find a case of such raw, phenomenal talent and such overwhelming unanimity amongst fellow students and teachers,” says Sergi Vergés, head of the Department of Jazz and Modern Music at the Liceu Conservatory.
Maldonado will perform at the Liceu Conservatory Auditorium alongside other former students who, like him, were scholarship holders of the Ferrer Music Foundation: Camil Arcarazo, Ot Granados and Enric Fuster.
Artist details:
Xavi Maldonado, tenor sax
Camil Arcarazo, guitar
