Our particular repóquer of great jazz voices –in chronological order of the concerts: Madeleine Peyroux, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Dianne Reeves and Melody Gardot– is completed by a 24-year-old girl who sings as if she had many lives behind her. With only one album under her arm and endorsed by various awards (such as the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2019), Joy has already made it clear that she must be counted on. Her models are classics, indeed – Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald in the first place – but at the same time her voice imposes itself with forceful charm and subtlety. Samara Joy. Remember her name. A debut in Barcelona that will undoubtedly be unforgettable.
