Liceu BLAM Collective will offer a concert on November 4 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which from October to December 2022 will schedule 19 master classes and 26 concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
The Liceu BLAM Collective is a modern music ensemble, where students are directed by teachers Pedro Campos and Alex Dee and it is presented as a burst of music, full of influences from Black American Music and Afro-American music in general.
This is a ensemble that has broken into the cosmos of the Conservatori Liceu as one of the great bets, and which initially had the artistic and musical accompaniment of Michael League, founder of the renowned band Snarky Puppy. On this occasion, they will perform a monograph on the figure of Stevie Wonder. The program will be based on his legendary album Talking Book, from 1972, and whose 50th anniversary is celebrated this year.
This year the Liceu Conservatory’s Carta Blanca will present four great ensembles: the Liceu Gran Ensemble, the Liceu Big Band, the Liceu BLAM Collective and the Liceu Jazz Grup. These ensembles are made up of students and directed by the teachers of the Department of Jazz and Modern Music. The Conservatori Liceu curriculum, with the practice in these projects, promotes training both in the classroom and on stage, with the aim of facilitating student access to professional experiences. Developing education in the classrooms and culture in the stages has been part of the Liceu’s DNA since its origins.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 11 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Feel free to take part in this event which is part of a unique proposal in the country that wants to bring the best jazz to students and music lovers!
