The Liceu Big Band is one of the few stable ensembles of its kind in our country that offers a completely professional experience. It has established itself as one of the essential ensembles on the city’s jazz scene, and is directed by one of the most expert Big Band arrangers in the country, Sergi Vergés.
The Liceu Big Band has a wide artistic career that provides the students of the Bachelor in Jazz and Modern Music at the Conservatori Liceu with a unique experience of being able to play in a group of these characteristics. His repertoire usually fluctuates with the compositions and arrangements of great Big Band figures such as Thad Jones, Bob Mintzer, Vince Mendoza, Bob Brookmeyer, Ed Neumeister, Gordon Goodwin or Maria Schneider.
