Led by pianist Cyrus Chestnut, this trio is known for its focus on post-bop and gospel jazz. Joined by double bass and drums, Chestnut offers energetic and spiritual performances, combining virtuosic technique with a deep emotional connection. His music is a journey through the riches of jazz, exploring both its traditional roots and modern expansions. Chestnut has played with Jon Hendricks, Terence Blanchard, Betty Carter, and Wynton Marsalis, among many others, and appeared in Robert Altman’s film Kansas City, in which he performs as a pianist inspired by Count Basie.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 13 years with the Barcelona Jazz Festival.
