The Conservatori Liceu Symphonic Band returns to the stage as a firmly established project, not only due to the excellent reception it has received from audiences in previous concerts, but also because it has become a key pillar in enriching the orchestral offerings for students of woodwind and brass instruments.
This concert provides an opportunity to explore the world of band repertoire, going beyond arrangements of symphonic works or festive music. The band features an exceptionally wide and diverse repertoire, created specifically for this type of formation. Although such programs are still relatively unknown to the general local public, they are experiencing a real boom in other parts of Europe, Asia, and the United States.
On this occasion, the Conservatori Liceu Symphonic Band will be conducted by Luis Orduña, a renowned band conductor, especially appreciated for his ability to elevate the artistic level of the ensembles he works with. He has stood out in promoting wind music and for his expressive and technically impeccable performances, contributing to the international recognition of musical bands. Furthermore, he has influenced the training of new talents as an educator. He is currently the conductor of the Banda Municipal de Vitoria.
They will present a program that will open with The Open Window by Valencian composer Raquel Sánchez. It will be followed by Gallimaufry, a piece by English composer and conductor Guy Anthony Woolfenden. The program will conclude with the well-known Music of the Spheres by Phillip Sparke.
