The Liceu Cambra Masterclasses & Concerts cycle offers the finest selection of masterclasses by leading international figures in the fields of creation and performance. This year, it celebrates its tenth edition as a consolidated pedagogical and artistic initiative, bringing students from the Conservatori Liceu closer to great masters and becoming a reference point for music lovers in Barcelona.
On this occasion, the piano legend Mikhail Voskresensky will share his expertise with the students, offering a unique opportunity to learn from his career and artistic vision.
Russian pianist for more than 60 years continues to give concerts around the world. The top prizewinner of many international piano competitions, including The First Van Cliburn Competition, he has captivated audience with his electrifying interpretations of the great piano literature of all styles.
Born in the city Berdyansk (Ukraine), he graduated from Moscow Conservatory. His teachers were Lev Oborin, Ilia Klyachko, Jacob Milstein, Boris Zemliansky and Leonid Roizman (organ). His career began from performance of Chopin’s 2nd piano concerto in Warsaw with the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra under the button of Eugeny Svetlanov. In 1957 he played the European premiere of Shostakovich 2nd Concerto in Prague Spring Festival at the presence of composer himself, who highly estimated his performance
He has been a professor of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, head of chair of the piano faculty. Since 1992, he is also guest professor of Toho Gakuen School in Tokyo. His pupils won more than 120 international prizes, including 61 gold medals. He has adjudicated in many international competitions as well as Tchaikovsky and Scriabin Competitions in Moscow as a chairman of the jury.
He was awarded the highest artistic title in Russia, “People Artist of Russia”, the Japanese Order “the Rising Sun”, the Russian “Imperial House Medal of Saint Anne”, the “Nicolai Rubinstein Gold Medal” of Moscow Conservatory, among others.
In June of 2022, he left Russia, with his family, as a protest against the war in Ukraine, and he immigrated to the USA.
