Liceu Cambra Masterclasses & Concerts has established itself as a benchmark of musical excellence, offering a privileged space for the exchange of knowledge among some of the most prominent creators and performers worldwide. In its tenth edition, the cycle reaffirms itself as one of the most important initiatives in its field, becoming an essential venue for both students of the Conservatori Liceu and internationally renowned masters. Furthermore, it has become an unmissable event for music lovers in Barcelona, who can enjoy world-class artistic experiences.
Now, It presents a masterclass taught by Adrián Díaz, a Spanish horn player and orchestral performer recognized for his technical mastery and extensive career in the world of classical music. He is particularly known for his ability to interpret with great expressiveness and technical control, both in classical and contemporary repertoires. Díaz has worked with renowned orchestras and performed works by famous composers, demonstrating great command of the horn as an instrument.
After beginning his musical education in Madrid, he started his international career at the age of 16, participating in youth orchestras such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.
He studied in Berlin under the tutelage of Prof. Marie-Luise Neunecker at the “Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler”. Díaz is currently pursuing his doctoral studies (Dr. sc. mus.) at the University of Hamburg and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in the same city. His research topic is “The history of the origin and performance of Richard Strauss’ second horn concerto”.
After playing in at the Konzerthaus Berlin Orchestra from 2010 to 2013, he joined the NDR-Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in 2014. He is also a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra since 2019 and a regular guest in other orchestras, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Lucern Festival Orchester, the Mahler Chamber Orchester, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich or the Munich Philharmonic.
As a distinguished horn player of his generation, he plays at the most prestigious chamber music festivals in Europe and Asia. Since 2012 he performs also chamber music with Sir Andras Schiff as a member of his Capella Andrea Barca. With awards from international competitions such as “Citta de Porcia” in Italy and the “International Mozart Competition” in Salzburg, Díaz regularly performs as a soloist in Europe, Asia, and America.
Since 2021, Adrián Díaz is Professor for horn at the Musikhochschule Lübeck.
