Delikatessen Concerts and a great series of masterclasses shape a unique proposal
The 46 Voll-Damm International Barcelona Jazz Festival makes again the Liceu Conservatory one of its top venues. Four concerts and sixteen masterclasses make an offer entirely unique and convert the Conservatory into a special epicenter of Jazz education in Europe. There are many big names among the confirmed teachers, as the pianist Kenny Barron, Joachim Kühn and Jacky Terrasson, vibraphonist Gary Burton, bassist Dave Holland, saxophonists Joe Lovano, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Joshua Redman and Mark Turner, and fellow pianist Chucho Valdés, who will lead a workshop about his show in homage to the Irakere in its 40th year.
With his workshop, Valdés is starting a relationship with the Conservatory as an Associate Professor. The Conservatory students get free entrance to the masterclasses series (there are different admission prices for other people), which is possible thanks to the generous support of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
In addition, the Festival has once again chosen the Liceu Conservatory Auditorium to stage three concerts: two piano solo recitals, with two greats of European jazz avant-garde, Joachim Kühn and Agustín Fernández, and a leading quartet, Mark Turner’s. Finally, one of Barcelona’s most creative labels, Discordian Records, is closing the activities at Conservatory Café with a double concert. Conservatory students are entitled to a 50% per cent discount of the ticket price for every concert.
Five star Jazz very soon! Looking forward to share it with you!
