The purpose of the institution and its activities<\/h3>\n

The LICEU CONSERVATORY FOUNDATION<\/strong> is a non-profit cultural and educational institution, with social initiative and public service, continuing the activity initiated in 1837 with the Liceo Filarm\u00f3nico Dram\u00e1tico Barcelon\u00e9s de Montesi\u00f3n. Its purpose is to serve society through teaching, artistic expression and knowledge transfer, always with the firm conviction that music contributes to human, ethical and social progress. The mission of the Foundation, according to its statutes, is the promotion and development of musical education in all styles and educational levels.<\/p>\n

The Foundation develops its activities in several buildings in the center of Barcelona.<\/p>\n

The Historic Center<\/strong>, located at Les Rambles, 63, in the building it shares with the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Although they have become separate institutions, the theatre was created by the Conservatory in order to have the right place to foster its students\u2019 talent. On the upper floor is the Teatrino, an emblematic hall with capacity for one hundred seats, where the activity of teachers such as Pau Casals, Engelbert Humperdinck or Higini Angl\u00e8s has taken place, as well as students such as Francesc Vi\u00f1as, Montserrat Caball\u00e9, Manuel Ausensi, Victoria de los \u00c1ngeles and other great musicians who received their training at the Center. Many other young people interested in music, who did not go on to have a professional career, also had the opportunity to perform or take their exams in this special space.<\/p>\n

The Professional Center<\/strong>, located at Pla\u00e7a Urquinaona, 11, has classrooms perfectly suited to the needs of high-quality professional-grade musical training and the Music School, in the fields of classical, jazz and modern music. It is equipped with a concert hall for 70 spectators, with beautiful modernist-style decoration, located in a privileged setting next to Pla\u00e7a Catalunya.<\/p>\n

The Higher Studies Center<\/strong>, at Nou de la Rambla, 88, is the ideal space for bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degree studies, the Foundation\u2019s main office and the place from where it is managed. The classrooms and resources of the building are fully adapted to the demands of professional music training of the highest level with an international dimension.<\/p>\n

It has the Conservatori Liceu Auditorium<\/strong>, a concert hall with 394 seats, considered unanimously one of the best auditoriums of its kind, very suitable for chamber music and also perfectly adapted to symphonic music, jazz, modern music, theatre and opera. A stable programme is carried out annually through the concert cycles: Liceu Jove, Liceu Jazz, Liceu Cambra, Liceu Familiar and Liceu Jam Sessions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In this building, in addition to the Auditorium, there are other spaces of different sizes and resources, so that students\u2019 and guest musicians\u2019 performances can always be accommodated in the most appropriate space: the Orchestra Hall, with 100 seats, the Chamber Hall, for 30 listeners, Classroom 00, recently remodeled as a multi-purpose space, and the Caf\u00e8 del Conservatori, where live jazz can often be heard and where the school\u2019s jam sessions take place.<\/p>\n

The Foundation fulfills its purpose through four commitments, which structure its activity: the institutional commitment, the educational commitment, the artistic commitment and the social commitment. These commitments are implemented through the activities that the institution develops in its own facilities, as well as through the many collaboration agreements that the Foundation has signed with public and private entities of an academic, cultural or social nature, both in Spain and around the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
