Last October the first streaming instrument classes were held by the teachers of the Conservatori del Liceu for the students of the Zhejiang Conservatory of China. The activity was attended by trombone, double bass, flute and violin teachers from both institutions. The classes were attended by students from China, as well as other regular students of the Liceu Conservatory and it was an opportunity to share technical details of the instrument and common repertoire.
This academic activity is part of the collaboration agreement signed by the Conservatori Liceu Foundation and the Conservatori de Zhejiang, thanks to which some Chinese students are currently studying at the Conservatori Liceu as international exchange students. The objective of this agreement is the mobility of students and teachers, as well as the realization of joint academic activities that promote the role of music as an instrument to overcome cultural and linguistic differences and as a bridge of mutual understanding.
This activity is part of the initiatives that the Conservatori Liceu Foundation has been carrying out for years with counterpart institutions in China and that have allowed the development of numerous activities such as the presentation in 1999 of Mozart’s opera Der Schauspieldirektor in Beijing and other Chinese cities, the presentation of the Zhejiang Youth Orchestra at the Conservatori Liceu Auditorium in 2018, and the China-Spain International Music Competitions (Edition 2020 Violin and Edition 2021 for violin, flute and clarinet). It should also be remembered the musicians coming from China who in recent years have carried out their musical training in Barcelona in our Higher Studies and Master programs.
