On Thursday, January 16, the Mexican tenor Javier Camarena visited Barcelona to conduct a high-level singing master class at the Liceu Superior Center as part of the Liceu Cambra Masterclasses & Concerts cycle.
The tenor witnessed the performance of some students of the Center, whom he later advised on a technical and interpretative level during the development of the piece.
Javier Camarena also said that it was an honor to be and act at the Center, and emphasized to the students the importance of being constant in the search for operatic technique and of taking care of the voice and not forcing it. He also emphasized that, thanks to the different job opportunities and opportunities offered to students after completing their studies, everyone can find their place in the world of music.
Prior to the master class, Javier Camarena signed the Liceu Conservatory Foundation’s book of honor.
Camarena began her studies at the Faculty of Music of the Veracruzana University and later graduated with a degree in Music from the University of Guanajuato. In 2005 he was the winner of the Juan Oncinas Singing Contest in Barcelona.
On Saturday, January 18, Javier Camarena performed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the reopening of the center. The performance is also the beginning of the tour that will take place in Spain in 2020.
