José Daniel Salceda received the second prize in the performance category and Bruna Escolà received the prize for the best classified Catalan.
José Daniel Salceda, Master student of Guitar Performance at the Guitar at the Centre Superior Liceu, with a scholarship from the Liceu Conservatory Foundation, with professor Guillem Pérez-Quer, has won second prize in the 19th edition of the International Guitar Competition of Barcelona Miquel Llobet.
In this edition, the guitarist Bruna Escolà, a graduate of the Centre Superior Liceu, was also awarded with the prize for the best classified Catalan.
The competition was held from 3 to 6 November at the Municipal Conservatory of Music in Barcelona and was judged by Paola Requena, Dioni Chico and Maite Rubio, with Jose Galeote as secretary.
In the last and third phase of the competition, the finalists sharpened their musical skills with one of the two works to be chosen together with a string quartet, between the evocative “Fantasia per chitarra i quartetto d’archi” by the Italian master composer and guitarist Eros Roselli or the hypnotic “Landscape” by the Australian composer Robert Davidson.
The International Guitar Competition of Barcelona Miquel Llobet is aimed at high-performance guitarists up to 35 years of age, regardless of nationality.
From the Liceu Conservatory Foundation, from the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, we congratulate José Daniel Salceda and Bruna Escolà for these awards and we wish them many successes in their professional careers as guitarists.
