The Master studies in Piano Performance with a specialization in Spanish Music with Albert Attenelle is aimed to graduates with a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree from an institution of higher musical education and provides an Official Master Degree within the European Higher Education Area, according to the Royal Decree-Law 1614/2009 from de 26th of October that regulates the Higher Artistic Education in accordance with the Organic Law of Education of the 3rd of May.
What we call Spanish Music has had in Catalonia, more specifically in Barcelona city, one of its most important centers of development, as demonstrate by names of composers such as Albéniz, Granados, Mompou, Gerhard or Montsalvatge, and performers as well, such as Albéniz, Granados or Mompou themselves, Frank Marshall, Alicia de Larrocha, Montserrat Caballé or Victoria de los Ángeles, among many others.
A significant number of professors of the Liceu Conservatory faculty are indeed linked with the most important traditions of the performance of Spanish Music. We consider it to be a duty of our Conservatory to offer specialized studies that enable a deeper insight and continuity of this tradition, which is an artistic heritage of the utmost importance, and also to give students who feel close to this repertoire the chance to study it with the best teachers.
Albert Attenelle studied with Frank Marshall (a disciple of Granados) in Barcelona and with Marcel Ciampi in Paris. His career as a soloist and chamber music performer ranges over European, American, Near Eastern and Japanese stages, where he has played many concerts with important orchestras. His repertoire covers music of all styles.
He has published an Urtext edition of Albéniz’s Iberia Suite and, in 2005, he was awarded the Isaac Albéniz Medal for his contribution to disseminate the composer’s work. Attenelle’s recent recordings of Albéniz’s La Vega and Iberia, Granados’ Goyescas and Mompou’s Música Callada,Variaciones sobre un tema de Chopin and Suburbis with the label Columna Música, have been acclaimed by the specialized press. He is professor at the Liceu Conservatory since 2006. Albert Attenelle is also founder and director of L’Escola de Música de Barcelona, and artistic advisor of Barcelona Piano Academy.
He is called regularly to participate as a jury in several national and international competitions, as well as in Performance Courses.
The main objective of the Master studies in Piano Performance with a specialization in Spanish Music with Albert Attenelle is for the students to create their own experience of the most representative repertoire of Spanish piano music in which they want to specialize and deepen, so that they achieve the inherent knowledge and abilities of a high level performer with a defined artistic personality.

The Master studies in Piano Performance with a specialization in Spanish Music with Albert Attenelle offers the opportunity to develop a music specialty and to define a performing personality that gives successful students more options in the professional world, both in performance as well as teaching activities.
The Master studies in Piano Performance with a specialization in Spanish Music with Albert Attenelle, will be taught according to the following Curriculum:
Students will also gain additional theoretical training by specialists in the composition, analysis, history and aesthetics of music that allow the Masters students to develop a more complete understanding of the performed works and greater awareness of their stylistic features and its cultural implications, which can foster a richer, multidimensional interpretation.
The subject Analysis Seminar consists of the study of harmony, form, and stylistic characteristics, by analyzing representative examples in both printed score and listened analysis of sound recordings. The work will be realized in a class group with the students in the program, and it will offer a personalized and practical approach to the subject matter.
The Music Business subject brings together professionals from industry representative, such as journalists, managers, concert promoters, marketing officers and entrepreneurs, offering the student a panorama of the real professional world.
The program of studies includes the writing of a Final Master’s Essay under the direction of specialists who will define and express in a coherent form the student’s own ideas about their repertoire, developing their own capacity to communicate the content and results of their performance before different audiences.
At the end of the studies you will obtain an Official Master’s Degree in Arts with a specialization in classical Oboe Performance with the professional advantages involved, including the ability to access and enroll in future doctoral studies in arts education.
Students of the Master studies in Piano Performance with a specialization in Spanish Music with Albert Attenelle will have a total of 30 individual lessons with Prof. Attenelle. The complementary subjects will be taught by experts in analysis, musical research and professional development.
